“I know grammar by ear only, not by note, not by the rules.” ― Mark Twain
Since this is a bio I considered whether to go the traditional route and speak in the third person, but then I thought of Mark Twain and true to form I threw out the rule book.
It began when I decided to become a poet. I was just out of high school when a Berkeley publishing house included one of my poems in an anthology. With a pocketful of poems I left for college in Washington State. What happened? I still write poetry but a girl has got to eat.
I began working in marketing communications and now have more than 20 years of experience in marketing strategy, creative copywriting, project management, and small business consulting.
After college I went to work for Nordstrom Advertising gaining a reputation as a shrewd negotiator and strategic planner (seriously, people actually told me that). Eleven years later (and a move back to San Francisco), I took a job as National Advertising Manager for Birkenstock USA. And three years after that I was off to Nebraska taking a position as Director of Consumer Marketing for giftpoint.com.
After emerging from my first stint in the digital world ― they sold the e-commerce business to a competitor with deep pockets ― I moved to the Twin Cities and began a freelance career.
A nomad at heart, I split my time between San Francisco, Seattle and Montana..
